Progress continues to be made towards securing more manufacturing within the U.S. Recently, the Biden administration announced a final rule to strengthen domestic content of American-made goods, including much-needed updates to strengthen Buy America rules, according to The Coalition for a Prosperous America.
The new rule, pursuant to the Biden administration’s Executive Order 14005, increases content threshold for products to be considered American-made from the current 55 percent to 65 percent by 2024 and 75 percent by 2029. The final rule also established a pathway to further Buy American enhancements for critical products or components. As supply chain issues continue to burden retailers nationwide, buying American-made goods is becoming more of a necessary option in order to keep products on the shelf.
