With everyone feeling the full effects of winter, it can be especially hard on those who spend frequent time outside. That was the impetus behind the development of Outdoor Hands, created by a Georgia pharmacist whose wife’s hands always cracked in the colder months, and nothing seemed to work. “Company co-founder, Austin Gore, has a daughter who challenged him to come up with something to help her mom’s hands,” says company owner, Robert Fine. “So Gore, a clinical pharmacist, developed this lotion which not only works, but was met with raves from nurses at the hospital where he practices.”
Outdoor Hands contains a unique blend of certified organic oils and botanical extracts, which heals, soothes and moisturizes damaged skin. “It contains no mineral oils, petrolatum, glycerin or lanolin, so there’s nothing to impede the absorption of moisture and healing agents by dry and damaged skin,” Fine says. “You can actually feel the lotion being absorbed as it’s applied.” The product has really started to take off in recent months, thanks to advertising on syndicated radio programs and an unpaid endorsement from Pro Bass fisherman, Joe Thomas, who liked it so much he contacted Outdoor Hands and said he’d vouch for it at no charge.
Outdoor Hands wholesales for $6 a tube in a display pack of 12, and it comes with an extra tube so potential customers can test and feel it. It retails for $11.99, but because only a small amount is needed, each tube is long lasting. “We’ve got a special deal going on right now,” Fine says. “Anyone who orders two cases gets four free tubes with their order, increasing their profit potential.” Outdoor Hands is currently a big seller at Tractor Supply Company along with 3,000 other outlets nationwide. Fine says his company is growing its line, coming out this year with Li’l Puckers Lip Lube, a mint flavored cream for the lips. “We’ve done tremendously with the product over the past year, and expect that to continue,” Fine says.
