Celebrating a milestone of 50 years, ASD continues to bring national wholesale buyers and sellers together to create the most dynamic B2B merchandise marketplace in the industry. This highly attended tradeshow will be making its traditional appearance on the West Coast, July 31 to Aug. 3, in Las Vegas, NV, closely followed by another Las Vegas event on March 25-28, 2012. ASD East Coast will occur in New York October 23-25 of this year. For those buyers with limited time and resources, with a need to narrow the number of attended tradeshows, the ASD show provides buyers with enough product selection to satisfy their consumers’ demand. For four days between the hours of 9am and 6pm PST (Aug. 3, 9am to 4pm PST) about 45,000 buyers will be provided with the opportunity to meet over 2,800 exhibitors, with over 700 attending from Asian countries.
ASD Bringing Buyers and Seller Together
Exhibitors and attendees are looking forward to another successful ASD tradeshow. Although buyers attend from all 50 U.S. states, representatives from 88 countries will also be in attendance, as international attendance is up 33 percent. Targeted for business class buyers, including independent retailers, national and regional chain stores, box stores, nonprofits, importers/exporters and more, the tradeshow traditionally exhibits merchandise in five major categories. The first two merchandising opportunities can be found among the 400 exhibitors representing the Gift and Toy markets. Featured product categories include collectibles, dolls/figurines, and giftwrap/giftbags, among others.
Other merchandise categories of interest are jewelry, primarily focusing on cash and carry and fine jewelry, as well as style and beauty, which includes costume jewelry, handbags, leather apparel, luggage and more. ASD, attracts most of its attendance with its large focus on the value and variety market. This year, 900 exhibitors will supply an incredible range of merchandise for dollar, convenience and grocery stores, as well as general merchandise. Some of the most popular featured product categories found in the value and variety exhibit hall are smoking accessory products, army and navy surplus, automotive products, tools and hardware, and sporting goods.
ASD provides a portfolio of innovative face to face, print and online products for the wholesale trade industry, but since its start in 1961, it continues to develop new solutions to provide buyers and sellers with the most comprehensive marketplace in today’s dynamic retail environment. Educational seminars are among these solutions. Learned lessons, strategies and How To’s are just a few of the types of one hour sessions attendees will be offered during their time in Las Vegas. A special two-part seminar titled, “How to Open a Successful Retail Store,” will be held Aug. 1. Attendees, particularly new store owners, will be provided with the opportunity to learn how to open and run a successful store, as well as how to benefit from the pitfalls, mistakes and triumphs of other retailers who are doing it themselves.
