January, February, and March are normally big months for trade shows. Suppliers can show off their fresh products for the new year and buyers can find all of the latest new year trends, and start to prepare for the summer. As busy as this time normally is for the retail industry, COVID-19 still has everyone in a tizzy and many trade shows are cancelled or have transitioned to a digital experience.
Independent Retailer is dedicated to giving our readers the most up-to-date information as possible so you can stay in-the-know and update your schedules to work around these trade show times. Here is the latest information on some major trade shows that are scheduled for January, February, and March:

ASD Market Week – February 28 – March 3, 2021
The in-person ASD Market Week scheduled for the Las Vegas Convention Center has been canceled. Instead, ASD has decided to take the show “on the road.” Held in place of the February 28 – March 3, 2021 edition of ASD Market Week in Las Vegas, the new “ASD Road Show” will be a three-city opportunity strategically designed to bring smaller, regional shows closer to the buyers, all done in a controlled and safe setting. The Road Show dates and schedule can be found on ASD’s website, and the dates are subject to change due to COVID-19.

USA CBD Expo – April 16-18, 2021
Previously scheduled for February 5-7, the USA CBD Expo’s Atlanta, Georgia show has now been moved to April. Taking place at the Georgia World Congress Center, the USA CBD Expo unites all buyers and sellers in the CBD industry under one roof. They are continually working to offer the safest live experience possible at their events and are developing exciting alternatives (e.g. virtual-reality events, digital swag bags, speed networking, investor webinars, and more) to make sure the CBD industry can keep moving forward regardless of public health authorities mandating a return to lockdown.

Toy Fair New York – May 1-4, 2021
Originally scheduled for earlier in 2021, Toy Fair New York has rescheduled their show dates and, for the moment, is set to take place in person at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City. They are just as excited and eager to get buyers and sellers together under one roof as all other trade shows, and they are hopeful that this date will stick around. As always, due to COVID-19, the date is still subject to change so stay tuned.

Surf Expo – January 6-8, 2021
Still set to take place in January, the Surf Expo has released a complete Health & Safety Plan on their website to keep both buyers and sellers safe during the show. They are taking extra precautions beyond those mandated by government and local authorities, including daily temperature checks and face masks required of all persons entering the building, without exception.

Philadelphia Gift Show – March 28-31, 2021
The Philadelphia Gift Show has been moved from January to March due to COVID-19. Even though digital trade shows are still an effective way to find new products and suppliers, nothing beats in-person experiences, and this is why trade shows are trying as hard as they can to keep the in-person events alive. If that means they have to reschedule or push back shows, that is what they do. Philadelphia Gift Show, along with the other trade shows, are hopeful that these scheduled in-person events will take place.
