NY NOW, held February 3rd – 6th at the Javits Center in New York City, is one of the best gift, home, and handmade trade shows for independent retailers. The quality and selection of products is superb, and retailers can find a great mix of established brands, breakthrough artisans, and startup manufacturers. Additionally, as of this year, NY NOW co-locates with the National Stationery Show to provide retailers an even bigger one-stop merchandise shopping experience. Here are some of our favorite product finds from January’s NY NOW:
Housewares from Rosanna
Rosanna is a huge supplier of mugs, tableware, barware, and home good items. They have a giant in-house design team that works to make unique and intriguing products. They believe that tableware can and should be art. This is evident in their Henri Matisse inspired collection that was nominated for a Best New Product award.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg inspired products were prevalent throughout the entire merchandise show. Rosanna was no exception with an BRG inspired ceramic mug. This collection also includes a mug that commemorates the ratification of the 19th Amendment of the Constitution and women’s right to vote, which will have a 100 year anniversary in 2020.
Hand-Embroidered Dresses from Mata Traders
Mata Traders is a fair trade business that handmakes and hand designs all of their clothing and jewelry. The result is high-quality pieces with striking design elements like hand embroidery and unique patterns. Their best-selling dress is a blue and yellow lemon print which pairs nicely with their statement necklaces.
Greeting Cards from Tray Ham and American Design Club
You may think that greeting cards aren’t trade show-stopping material. But, you would be wrong. These playful and punny pop culture cards drew a crowd at the NY NOW show. As social media interaction becomes the norm for communicating, consumers are placing greater importance in gestures like greeting cards.
Pet Products from Easy Tiger
Easy Tiger markets themselves as finely crafted sarcasm (+stuff) and their pet products are certainly not short on sass. At NY NOW, they had dog sweaters, bandannas, collars, and more on display.
