With the increased noise pollution all around us, there’s a real need to reach out to the hearing impaired, and that’s just what the engineers at Sonic Alert have done. The company, based in Troy, MI, manufactures and distributes special alarm clocks for the hard of hearing. “We primarily aim our products at those who are deaf, the elderly, and anyone who has trouble hearing,” says Ed Brink, director of sales and marketing. Sonic Alert has an extensive line of clocks with loud alarms for those hard to wake, such as teens and college students. “We also have a vibrating alarm that attaches to the bed, so it wakes up just the sleeper and not the entire house,” he adds.
Sonic Alert is a wholesaler selling to other wholesalers and dealer distributors. “We do a lot of catalog sales as well,” Brink says, “selling to catalogers like Hammacher Schlemmer, Haband, SkyMall and others.” The company’s best seller is the Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock. “The Sonic Bomb, also known as, The Bomb, is for guys of all ages who think they might not wake up in the morning,” Brink says. “At 113 decibels, this alarm is sure to rattle your windows and force your eyes open. Plus, if that doesn’t put your feet on the floor, the pulsating alert lights and Super Shaker bed vibrating unit will.” The Bomb wholesales for $21.50 and retails for $42.95 and up. There is no minimum order from Sonic Alert, and the company offers dropship service if requested.
