Saving the Ocean One Swimsuit at a Time

Swiminista black swimsuitEveryone’s body is built differently, which makes it hard for consumers to find pieces of clothing that fit just right. It’s not necessarily a problem with brands, it’s just difficult to order or make a variety of clothing in every size possible and still be able to make a profit.

One online swimsuit brand was created to help solve this problem. Each swimsuit has different adjustability components to help fit in one area without being too small or large in another area. “Even though I love the halter look, I don’t like the way it fits on the neck, so I created a few halter styles with adjustability so nothing will ever pull on the neck,” Andrea Bernholtz, founder of SWIMINISTA, said.

Good For the Body & the Environment

SWIMINISTA is an eco-conscious luxury swimwear company whose products are designed to move and engineered to compliment the body. Bernholtz was on holiday with a few girlfriends and they were all complaining about their swimwear not fitting right. This inspired her to create SWIMINISTA in an effort to give women the confidence to celebrate their own bodies and to reduce the impact swimwear has on the planet by softening her own footprint, using luxury recycled fabrics to create her entire collection.

Bernholtz grew up always doing ocean cleanups in her free time and recycling was drilled into her head as a kid. Now, she has continued her love for keeping the ocean clean into her business journey. The luxury recycled fabrics used in SWIMINISTA swimwear are made from the millions of tons of post-consumer plastic bottles polluting the oceans. Even their delivery bags, packaging, and the little plastic strips inside the bathing suits are all compostable.

Catering to Their Customers

The SWIMINISTA online boutique strives to make the ecommerce shopping experience a breeze. They offer a personalized sizing guide on their website that helps customers easily find the right suit for their unique bodies. It takes shoppers through what their desired swimsuit is, and then uses their bust and waist sizes to tell them what size they would be in a SWIMINISTA swimsuit.

To add onto the ease of the online shopping experience, SWIMINISTA also offers a try-at-home process for their customers. “It’s really hard to shop online and you have to know what you like, so we allow up to three different suits they can try on in different sizes,” Bernholtz said. “What I found with our SWIMINISTA girl is once she finds a top she likes, she can buy the same style over and over again in different colors and designs.”

This is especially helpful during the pandemic when consumers aren’t comfortable going to a physical store to try on a bunch of different swimsuits. With SWIMINISTA, they can simply pick out a few different sizes and find the right one. Even Bernholtz suggests that this process makes the customer want to buy multiple different swimsuits in the same size.
