The Merchandise Center, also known as TMC, is a group of “ninety of the top wholesale players,” says TMC owner Mark Passis. “We are not a typical trade show with a convention center format,” he continues. The ninety wholesalers occupy permanent showrooms in a building just half a mile from the Chicago O’Hare International Airport. “We have the biggest collection of permanent vendors in the business,” continues Passis.
TMC hosts seven trade show events throughout the year. The permanent showroom environment is very business-friendly. Each vendor’s exhibiting area is on average between 600 – 700 square feet, with larger showrooms as big a several thousand square feet. “Vendors can bring literally every single item they carry,” says Passis. “Buyers can spend more time talking with vendors and really learning about each other’s businesses in a more comfortable and private setting.” The building was constructed specifically for TMC with high ceilings and tons of light to best showcase products.
Buyers at TMC can find a variety of closeout, general merchandise, seasonal goods, accessories, health and beauty, hardware, toys, home décor, and name brand goods. Many national chains, dollar, and discount stores frequent TMC for a variety of products at low wholesale pricing. The seven annual shows are designed to accommodate all buying seasons. “We’re very accessible,” says Passis. “Whatever season you are trying to buy for, we have a show to accommodate you.” In addition to being right outside the airport, TMC arranges special rates and accommodations with surrounding hotels that are within walking distance to the showrooms.
The next show will be held January 9 – 11th, 2017. For more information and to register, please visit www.tmcexpo.com.
