OPNYC: An Intimate Tradeshow at the Heart of the Garment District

Offprice New YorkOFFPRICE New York is a market-sized fashion and apparel tradeshow located in the historic Gotham Hall of New York City’s Garment District. Like its larger Las Vegas counterpart, OFFPRICE New York (OPNYC) is a dynamic order-writing show for retailers and offers goods 20 – 70% below wholesale costs. This year OPNYC will be held over two full days from May 2 through May 3rd, , 9am – 5pm. “This is new for us,” says OFFPRICE CEO Steve Krogulski “We traditionally have a half day on Sunday and a half day on Tuesday. This year we’ve condensed into two full days to maximize everyone’s time on the show floor.”

OPNYC offers 68 booths of men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel and accessories. Many of the exhibitors are traveling in from Los Angeles, and are some of the same exhibitors that can be found at OFFPRICE Las Vegas. “It’s a great atmosphere where we can showcase people coming in from out of town,” continues Krogulski. “It’s a smaller show, with all the categories well represented. You’ll find opportunities for the entire family.”

Offprice New YorkIn addition to the out-of-town vendors exhibiting in Gotham Hall, many of the regular OFFPRICE vendors have showrooms throughout the fashion district as close as across the street. “We’ve found a great spot. We can supplement the LA vendors at the show with our people who have showrooms,” says Krogulski.  Since many of the vendors are consistent for both of OFFPRICE’s shows, OPNYC is a perfect opportunity to restock best sellers from the February show. It’s also an opportunity to find trends that may have been missed, and to spend more time discussing options with vendors. “This show is more intimate,” says Krogulski. “It is not as rushed. People can really sit down, evaluate opportunities, look for matches, have the opportunity to talk about things, try new things in your store, and see what everyone is offering.”

“Historically, we’ve been in New York for a long time,” explains Krogulski. “We took a few years off but due to demand from retailers we restarted at Gotham Hall.” OPNY provides retailers a unique opportunity to receive the same values of the OFFPRICE Las Vegas show, but with a much more personable feel. Krogulski explains, “It’s such a small show, but that’s the beauty of OPNYC; you have to participate to find out. There are always new opportunities.”
