The Summer Olympics are here – and with them comes a once in a lifetime opportunity for retailers of all kinds to own a piece of history.
Olympic Sponsor RGS Events, the Official FF&E Project Manager of the Games, will be holding a series of auctions to sell bulk quantities of furniture, fixtures and equipment from athlete apartments and sporting venues from the 2016 games. Auction lots include thousands of beds, wardrobes, tables and chairs, all available via the marketplace, B-Stock Events, operated by B-Stock Solutions, Inc.
Auction lots will be divided into 40-foot containers with bidding for the first round of items, opening in June 2016. Additional auctions are scheduled to run throughout the summer months and will open to all bidders. Retailers purchasing the auctioned goods can expect to receive their deliveries in September, following the Paralympics closing ceremonies.
“This is a unique opportunity for business buyers around the globe to purchase items used by some of the world’s top athletes,” says Paul Ramler at RGS. “Wholesalers, resellers or organizations in need of bulk quantities of furniture and fixtures are all encouraged to bid.”
The furniture is high grade commercial quality, and will only be used for a short time in Rio by the athletes and their associated support teams. Additional items available for auction include hotel-room style security safes, fan and coach megaphones, massage tables, crowd control metal barriers, and more.
