Made in USA Beads for Crafts, Jewelry & Home DécorThe Beadery® has been manufacturing plastic beads for crafts, jewelry, toys and industrial applications in its Rhode Island factory since 1932. As a leader in plastic beads, acrylic rhinestones, cabochons, acrylic mirrors, decorative flower and leaf beads, pony beads and more, the firm wholesales items in bulk and packaged for retail sales.

The Beadery sells both regularly priced and closeout merchandise. “We have some items that have been discontinued for one reason or another, and we sell those for around 70 percent off our regular wholesale prices,” states Barbara Gordon, Sales and Marketing manager. Closeouts are first quality goods that are a result of excessive inventory, customers changing graphics on packages, or discontinued merchandise from a large vendor. “When they change their product line and discontinue a product, we have already made products to fill that pipeline,” Gordon explains. Closeouts comprise about 20 percent of The Beadery’s inventory.

Benefits of closeouts

“We have an assortment of retail packages of beads that encompasses various styles and quantities, at 100 bags per unit. It is a random mix that the customer does not pick and choose, but it’s a nice mix.”

Barbara Gordon, Sales and Marketing manager

Closeout products offer merchants several benefits, Gordon notes. “Retailers can sell these items in their stores at a discounted rate and still make a nice profit. Another plus is that there are many items, for example on the craft side of things, that may not have been seen for a long time. They could be vintage items, or metalized jewelry beads that are hard to find.” The Beadery offers several closeout assortments within its product mixes. “We have an assortment of retail packages of beads that encompasses various styles and quantities, at 100 bags per unit,” Gordon continues. “It is a random mix that the customer does not pick and choose, but it’s a nice mix. We offer the same thing for our easy clip charms, channels, acrylic gemstones, and the metalized plastic beads for closeout. Each contains many styles and finishes for one price point.”

Unique styles and colors

Closeout bags of beads are great sellers to crafty consumers, and The Beadery’s products lend themselves to all types of projects, including jewelry, Christmas ornaments and home décor. They are available in pearl effects, bright neon, glow in the dark, glitter, mottled, matte and opaque, as well as contrasting colors that have sculptural detail. The factory also has hot-stamping equipment, and applies various patterns or metallic foils to give beads and stones additional sparkle or enhanced detail. “Our quality far exceeds imports, and we pride ourselves on that,” Gordon stresses.

In addition to its broad line of top quality beads, The Beadery delivers great customer service. “We are a hands on company, and we do everything we can to satisfy our customers and make it a win-win situation for everyone.” The minimum order for regular merchandise is $100, and the opening order for closeouts is slightly higher, but negotiable. Lead-time for stock items is about one week.
