Swypers, interchangeable signs that attach to a vehicle’s rear wiper blade, are for the driving enthusiast who wants to use his or her car to promote a team or candidate, or display a silly saying, but who doesn’t want to damage the car’s finish. Swypers also may be for retailers looking for a made in the USA novelty item with loads of sales potential.
“More than 50 percent of U.S. vehicles have rear windshield wipers, and there are roughly 216 million registered vehicles in the U.S.,” notes Mike Gold, CEO of the company. “This means there is a target market of more than 100 million vehicles.” The product also mounts to bicycles, golf carts, wheelchairs, scooters and more. Furthermore, thousands of interchangeable signs are available with both licensed and non-licensed images. Swypers wholesale for $5.40 apiece, with volume discounts available, and retail for $14.99. The minimum order is 25 pieces, and the company sells point-of-purchase displays.
“If you were going to a sporting event, you could display a sign to promote your team,” Gold explains. “Then, if you wanted to show your support for a political candidate, you could pop off the team plate and pop on the candidate sign.” A lot of people don’t like to put bumper stickers on their cars because they are difficult to remove, he adds. Swypers give people the opportunity to express their opinions yet can be easily detached within seconds.
