Hosted every November at the foot of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the International Gift Exposition in the Smokies and the Souvenir Super Show, IGES/SSS, will be celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The show has expanded from its original pavilion into two modern convention centers offering a buying opportunity for souvenir outlets of all sizes, according to show co-owner, Susan Mills.
Now in its fifth year, the Asia America Wholesale Show has hit on the perfect formula for a regional trade show. According to Asia America President, Michael Finocchiaro, the show specializes in bringing diverse sellers from around the world together with buyers from South Florida, Central and South America, and the Caribbean, featuring a complete range of high-quality merchandise at good prices.
Independent Retailer recently spoke with Brady Kimball, marketing & special events manager at Emerald Expositions about the launch of Impulse at NY NOW. The show will be held Saturday, August 16 through Tuesday, August 19 at the Passenger Ship Terminal’s Pier 94 in New York City.
Founded in 1996, Urban Expositions has quickly grown to become the largest gift, airport, and souvenir trade show in the country, in part because of the environment at an Urban Expo show. “An Urban gift show is distinguished by its friendly, casual, and comfortable environment,” explains Dirk von Gal, vice president, gift, marketing and buyer services. “We work hard to create a relaxed, yet professional atmosphere that is conducive to doing business.”
One question consistently asked by smaller retailers is “How can we increase our margins?” While this topic is universal across all retailers regardless of size, it is especially relevant for smaller sellers that may not have the resources to purchase products in large enough volumes in order to gain economies of scale.
For 27 years, Norton’s Apparel, Jewelry, and Gift Market has been all about the personal touch. That is sure to be the case once again June 7-9, when the all-season wholesale market returns to its home base, the Gatlinburg Convention Center.
The Norton Shows’ upcoming wholesale trade show will be held March 15-17 in Tennessee’s state-of-the-art Gatlinburg Convention Center. Since 1987, the shows have been the go-to wholesale market for apparel, jewelry and gifts, drawing attendees from all 50 U.S. states, Canada, Central and South America, and the Caribbean Islands.
